The Higher Spheres
Your subtle body: What is it, how it works, and how it can be used
From a pure energy perspective your soul is a transmitter of energy which is based on your level of consciousness. Ideally and truthfully we are pure goodness and godliness however we do have the tendency to get covered and to get under the spell of illusion and the fact of the mater is that our external nature will transmit that energy. I am not going to get too philosophical here. I think everyone has some concept that the soul is themselves and it a eternal spark of God.
Your Aura
An Aura comes from your soul. It is what I call the human ozone layer. The earth has an ozone layer to keep out the unwanted elements (like comets and asteroids) and to shield the inhabitants from solar radiation and other harmful energy. In the same way an Aura keeps out unwanted elements like Ghosts, Dark spirits and Demons and shields us from negative energy. If we have a healthy aura then these things will be kept at bay. If our aura is weak then those things and the whims of the world will affect us severely.
A strong aura is caused by having a strong mind and consciousness and being in tune with nature and the divine plan.
A strong mind means determination and vision of your goals and ambitions in life and sticking to them. The problem comes with too much attachment to those goals and ambitions. Often times when I see that people are too attached to those things they will often break down and almost become suicidal if they fail in them or it seems like they have failed. This despondency is often the sign of a weak aura. Determination means that you do it and if it seems like you fail you try again. Lust is when you try so hard for an end but when you don’t get it you become morose.
A high consciousness means simply that you are aware. The more aware you are of the things around you that are going on the higher your consciousness will become. The trick is that you need to be detached from assumptions. A dirty window will never show what actually lies beyond it and a consciousness which is biased and which assumes too much will never be able to perceive things beyond what the eyes can see.
Being in tune with nature and the divine plan is a bit tricky to talk about because the truth is that what that means for me and you and everyone on the earth is extremely individual. Being in tune with nature is being in tune with your own nature. External forces only reveal what is hidden within not cause a change. In order to be in tune with nature and the divine plan you need to be very aware of yourself and who you are and on top of that be accepting of it. The fact is that many times we want or see more from ourselves than we are actually capable of. I knew a person very well who actually had the ambition to rule the world. They joined West Point University and accomplished many things. They told me that they actually hated themselves so much that the only way they thought that they could be useful was rule the world. In the end they blew there own brains out with and hand gun because it didn’t look like there plans were making much headway.
I know many people who either don’t know what they want to do with there life, or were told what to do with there life by some one and hate it but are doing it anyway. Both cases I feel are pretty much the same. The fact is that we all have a Dharma or Divine plan of action which we are supposed to be doing, and doing that is what will satisfy us. The problem is that now days people are more drawn to excitement than to satisfaction. Astrology can be helpful in determining your occupation and Dharma in life but praying and paying attention to the world around you and what it is telling you is very good as well. These kinds of questions are often the reasons why people take gurus because they don’t have the ability to answer them on there own.
I will now discuss things which tend to thin your Aura and which may lead to problems if not taken into consideration. The strength of our mind and mastery over our body is what causes us to have a strong healthy aura. Intoxication and Sexual activity are the general causes of our aura becoming thin. I will now delve into them to explain
Intoxication
causes our mind to become un-centralized unfocused and unaware of our human position. It weakens the bond we have to our consciousness.
Intoxication was and is a ritualistic item for bonding with the spirit world. In ancient times intoxication such as wine was used in the cult of Bacchus to induce divine intoxication. Throughout the world and throughout history intoxication in many forms was used by priest, shamans, yogis and holy men of various kinds as a kind of portal into a separate reality. It weakens the aura which allows us to perceive different realities or to come in contact with different beings. The problem comes when it isn’t used as a religious or spiritual tool and is used as a form of fun. In ancient times they would use intoxication in temples or in sacred spaces which were safe guarded against evil or dark influences. However Black wizards would get intoxicated in graveyards to speak with ghosts.
If you go to a club and get drunk then you become susceptible to any number of forces which can influence you in various ways. Basically taking intoxication without the proper protections and rituals is like having sex with a prostitute without wearing a condom and while there is no guarantee of catching a disease there is a good chance.
Despite the fact that it is sacred it is the preferred choice of Tamasic deities. Gods such as Durga Shiva and Ganesha can be worshiped by these methods and there are many rituals associated with intoxication and these gods. Other gods such as Brahma, Indra and Vishnu should not be offered any form of intoxication and it is actually considered very offensive for there worshipers to engage in this form of worship because they typically use meditation and mantras to get into divine trance.
Indra and the devas generally drink a form of sweet honey drink called Varuni. A barley water called Sura or a herb called Soma and but Soma is a wild plant which biologically called Ma Huang which has similar effects as ginseng root and is not a intoxication as much as it is a health stimulant. It is said to give long life and energy and fight the common cold.
Sexual activity
The reason why the Aura is lessened when there is sexual activity is because it is needed for the souls of the people who engage in it to become more connected. It actually can be a very spiritual activity and for this reason throughout the cultures of the world it has had a lot of taboo associated with it. The sexual energy is one of the most powerful forces in nature and as a result its misuse can result in a lot of trouble. The energy utilized to create a new life form and all the karmic significance associated with that act is very powerful. This is one of the platforms in which Tantrics get there magical powers from.
Black Tantrics engage in bizarre sexual rituals and even cannibalism on the livers and hearts of small children to tap into that creative force and utilize the energy for there own purposes. They will even have sex with a corpse. The modern reports of Sadomasochism Pedophilia and the eating of fetuses by high ranking business religious and government officials around the world is but a small glimpse into the power and influence which black Tantra has on the world today. World leaders and men of power in this modern age are not unaware of the power of black magic.
White Tantra is a form of spiritual sexuality and utilizes the sexual energy for higher ends and spiritual evolution. It is even said that it can lead to Moxa or Liberation. Most people however utilize Tantra as a way to spice up there love life or try some new sexual positions.
Sex without commitment or just jumping from partner to partner can be a very high drain on the aura and on the soul in general. In our natural position we have the desire for a soul mate or some one to share our life with and if we keep on jumping from bed to bed it can really jade us and take away the spiritual side of sex and cause us to just use it like a drug and get our nightly fix. This like intoxication will lead to a weak aura and weak mind and a weak determination.
The Dance of Light and Dark
At the current moment Demonic forces who are well aware of the spiritual force behind sex and intoxication and also aware of the negative side affects of its improper use have launched a campaign with all there power to propagate the miss use of these two forces within the society and the mind of the individual. They hope to lower the power of goodness in the world because they are well aware that when the power of goodness is lowered then the very gods themselves are weakened and they can try and wage a war on them.
There is a constant flux of power between the gods and demons and they are always in conflict with each other similar to the cycle of day and night. It is actually a natural phenomenon which cannot nor should not be stopped. This conflict between good and evil causes the revolution of time and events and the churning of history.
The current war however is some what different than any in history and the demons plan to make a somewhat lasting effect with the current scheme.
Since time immemorial the key has been the earth realm. The demons suffered a great deal as a result because the earth realm happens to be inhabited by humans. Humans are descendants of the gods themselves and as a result are inclined to worship them. The demons have tried various schemes which I shall now outlay so you get some concept of the war what has happened.
Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu were two brothers. The plan of Hiranyaksha was the adjust the position of the eath itself to cause it to become influenced by negative energy and completely change the inhabitants of the earth. To this end he was succesfull in moving the earth but lord Vishnu killed him and put it back where it belonged.
Hiranyakashipu reasoned that if he could defeat the gods in battle he could receive the worship of mankind. He did heavy Tapasya and got the benediction of Lord Brahma. With this benediction the gods were unable to defeat him and he openly ruled the universe. He caused the human population of earth worship him as God. With this act he opened the door for his own demise. He was eventually killed by Vishnu.
The Next great tyrant was Ravana and he got benedictions from Shiva and Brahma but he didn’t get worshiped as God. He only defeated the gods to become unquestioned ruler. He was a Rackshasha and they are not jealous of the gods worship. He just wanted to make sure they didn’t bother his indulgences. He offended the gods and humans and Vishnu incarnated and killed him
It is described that Indra killed many demons in a great war and destroyed there planets and kingdoms and they were without a home. There subtle bodies however were still intact so they came up with a new plan. Take birth on the earth in human bodies. With this new plan they hoped to evade the watchful eyes of the Devas and turn the world into there own kingdom subjugating the human race in a very subtle way. They did however plunder and rape the earth who complained about there presence to Brahma. The gods were summoned and decided to take birth on the earth and fight them looking like Humans. The history of the war was written down as the great epic Mahabharata, Once again Vishnu came and aided the gods in the destruction of the demons
That last great war happened over 5100 years ago. No other great war has happened since, that however doesn’t mean it wont happen again. It is said that the next incarnation will happen in over 400,000 years at the end of the current age. But there are records of many conflicts between gods and demons that happened between the incarnations of the lord.
What happened after the Mahabharata is not known by the majority of people but it has been recorded by the Tatvavadis. The demons were angry at being defeated once again and they realized that they needed to be extremely subtle. The problem had always been that the gods would declare war on them as soon as they made a move. So they decided they wouldn’t make any move again and they would only use humans as pawns in there schemes. It would essencaly be the humans who did all wrong and they would only make suggestions and offers to man from now on not taking any active role in a military sort of way.
They took birth around the world making philosophies which decried the performance of fire sacrifice and the worship of the gods. Men would no longer be content with the system as it had been for hundreds of thousands if not millions of years. Instead they would become discontent with life and all aspects continually searching and never finding always asking but never coming to any conclusion.
They took birth as “holy” men and spiritualist and spread there false doctrines around the globe. All of the sudden fire sacrifice which had been a staple of all religions around the world disappeared. Hate fear and death they preached and spread there foul corruption of truth around the globe. Millions were slaughtered in name of that which was holy. This was there revenge upon the holy ones for in the name of truth death and hatred was spread and this was the most painful insult which could be launched against the masters of goodness. With this accomplished men began to turn away from the very concept of that which was holy and began to eat the still more poison fruit of godlessness which had been the plan all along.
Throughout history however to make there plans come to pass the demons have always had agents. At first they incarnated to preach there godless faith however afterwards they found many willing humans who would serve them in exchange for earthly powers. So we have now come to the current moment and modern day secret societies and there real masters and master plan. The Demons hope to turn this whole world into a godless materialist paradise. They would be content if it was a desert with a few hundred thousand greedy people. They eat fear and pain like food.
Fortunately for us, The gods decided to make a counter strike and many teachers of truth have come over the ages to counter act the demonic influence. But there is always a constant fight because the demons will stop at nothing to twist there words for there own ends.
This is the current battle of light and dark. It has evolved from open interplanetary war to the minds and hearts of mankind. I do however get the feeling the gods are not so ignorant about what is going on and I feel if the demons cant hold themselves and decided to try and destroy the world the gods will make war with them.
The internal cycle
Within our body we have energy centers which are popularly known as Chakras they have dominion over and emit different kinds of energy and they form a line which goes from the anus to the top of the head. The root Chakra is based on bodily needs and wants in the most primal form and as the chakras go up they become more and more refined in the energy they emit and the functions which they have a dominion over till the reach what is popularly known as the crown Chakra which is the most spiritual and transcendental of the Chakras. This is the primal path and the use of this energy is called Kundalini yoga. The goal of Kundalini is to raise the energy and conciousness from the root along the primal path all the way to the crown which causes the crown to spread like the hood of a serpent and bring God conciousness.
There is however a secret branch of knowledge known to the gods which I shall now share with you which can aid you in the use of mystic powers and which can help you utilize your energy potential.
Some backround needs to be spoken to get your mind prepared to understand what I will speak about. As I had explained energy comes from the earth and planets and it enters us charges us and then exits. This energy flows into all living things and then exits into the atmosphere. We typically feel the effects of this energy as it flows around us depending on which it is passing through. It also depends on our nature how will respond to it. For example if we are of a satvik or godly nature when we are in a forest we may feel peace because the Natural environment while some one of a more Rajasic nature will simply be bored.
We can actually become a attractor to that energy and literally absorb it into our subtle energy field. People some times do this subconsciously. Many times people will go to a natural location to absorb the peace or great politicians or entertainers can feel a crowds energy and know how to feed off it to either persuade or entertain them. The free flowing energy which is absorbed is typically used only very briefly or is only held like trying to hold the water by placing your hand in a waterfall.
With some of the implements which I talk about in Chapter 6 you can attract store and use energy at will. The more novice should implement gems at first as they are very strong attractors of energy. For those who are more adept at energy manipulation you can use symbols mantras yantras and even meditation to attract very powerful energy to you. The most powerful can simply will energy to them and utilize it in any way they choose. That skill however is typically utilized by celestial beings who are not so bogged down with material bodys and all the problems and lack of function.
With the energy we absorb or which naturally comes to us we can store it within what I call the internal cycle. We can create a cycle of energy which flows through our Chakras up and down. From root to crown and then from crown to root, The more me absorb the more refined and condensed it becomes. This storage of energy causes us to develop a strong aura and even a Divine effulgence if we practice it long enough.
Most of this energy manipulation is Initiated with Rituals and deciding that you want to do it. If the aura the mind and the will is strong then these things come with ease.
From a pure energy perspective your soul is a transmitter of energy which is based on your level of consciousness. The basics
Chapter 1
The Three worlds
The material world is divided into three realms known as the upper middle and lower planetary systems. All the inhabitants of those various places are of different mental dispositions and moral character. Some souls wish to serve the lord in a very direct way and have pure hearts and are full of mercy for others. They are empowered by the lord to be put in very powerful positions. They live in the upper section of the material universe which is called Swarga or heaven.
The king of heaven is called Indra. He is the master of the three worlds and one of the most merciful souls in the universe, for he brings the rain which is the source of all life. It is described in the oldest Veda; once a fierce dragon named Vritra swallowed all the rain clouds and entered a massive fortress with 100 walls. The earth became dry and the people cried for help. The gods assembled together and prayed. Indra was born at that time. He was effulgent “the son of power”. He was given the thunderbolt weapon and went to slay Vritra. With his thunderbolt he destroyed the fortress and killed the great Dragon. When the Dragon was killed the clouds were released. After that he was called Maghavan or the lord of the clouds. The Vedas are full of his praise and he was once one of the most honored deities on this planet. It says in the Rig veda

“Without his mercy who can have victory? When in the midst of battle we call on you for help. You are the master of this universe for you can do what is impossible. You are Indra”
He brings the rain and victory and was praised by all the kings of the earth and worshiped throughout the world. he has been called Zeus, Jupiter and Thor just to name a few.
His kingdom is Swarga and within that realm is his own planet called Indraloka or the world of Indra. Within that effulgent planet is the golden city of Amravati which is his capital. Within the city of Amravati is the great Deva-Sabha or assembly hall of the gods. Indra sits as king. Bhrihaspati the master of the planet Jupiter is his chief priest. Mukyaprana is the spiritual master of the assembly The gods all sit in attendance and discuss how to aid God in the universe. Various angelic beings sing hyms of praise and play music. The gods are praised and worshiped because they are divinely empowered by the one ultimate supreme personality. They are given there positions because they are chosen from the souls for there qualitys of service and mercy.
The gods guard the universe from the forces of chaos and destruction establishing the great balance. There are two great clans of beings; The Devas or gods and the Asuras or demons. This history is explained in the Mahabharata and I shall describe it in brief. There was once a great sage who was empowered by God to have divine children. He was named Kasyapa muni. He had two wives. One was named Diti and the other was named Aditi. With his wife Aditi Kasyapa muni had his first set of sons the devas. They were pious and religious and devoted to God. Diti was envious and that envy was born as her children the demons. They hated the devas and waged a horrible war. Brahma performed a great sacrifice and from the spiritual world a great sword was given from the hands of God himself. The sword was given to Rudra or the god of anger who slaughtered the demons and sent them into the dark regions of the universe. There has been a great struggle ever since and this is the whole point of the Mahabharata war and this is going on right now.
The middle planetary system is the place we live in now, it is the abode of men, there are many planets and realms with men who have various levels of spiritual and material advancement. It is the realm of action. Human life is the point from which we make actions. We choose our fututre by our actions. This should be easy to observe. Karma is action. What decisions we make now affect our future, this is the way of this realm. By good action or good karma, we get good results. Bad action or Vikarma is the cause of bad results. Akarma is trancendental action or action which is beyond good and bad. All those who live in Swarga are enjoying there good Karma, All those in the lower regions are suffering there Vikarma. This is the opportunity for us to choose what kind of life we want to live.
The Three Gunas
This realm is a mixture of various mental dispositions or Gunas. Guna also means rope and the example is given that the Gunas pull the living entity in various directions. There are three Gunas.. Satvic, Rajasic, and Tamasic. This is described in detail in various sections of the Mahabharata
Satvaguna is called goodness but that is a very brief description. Satvaguna is a kind of contentment that comes when one knows that what they are doing is what they are supposed to do. It is a kind of inner power which is constantly growing. It can be seen in knowledge, joy, and fulfillment. It is the force of maintenance. Krishna explains tatra sattvam nirmalatvat prakaskam anamayam sukha-sangera badhnati jnana-sangena canagha “Satvaguna is the purest in the material world. It brings illumination and is free from any sinful reaction. It is associated with happiness and knowledge “ Bhagavad gita 14.6
Application
We shouldn’t be childish in our view of what is goodness. I could try and sell you some kind of sentimental practice or quick fix solution or magic mantra to save your soul. But that is not the truth. Goodness is not merely knowledge and peaceful behavior. I think it is proper now to talk a little about the Devas because they are embodiment of satvaguna. They bring rain and sun and maintain the whole of creation, however part of that maintenance is fighting the demons. They live in opulent beautiful surroundings and enjoy a life which is thousands of times more pleasurable than ours. This is all part of goodness. This is the contentment that comes from a Godly life. According to the Tatvavadis the gods are pure devotees of the lord. Some people think that living a life of renunciation in the forest is spiritual or that when one simply cries for the mercy of the lord and becomes a tool in his hand that is the highest form of devotion. Seriously I ask a truthful question to any person who speaks in such a way. What would please a father more? A son who is completely dependent on him and who cannot act on his own and who is always calling for help. Or one who can take care of himself and knows how to act in the right way and who can contribute to the whole of society. This is a simple question. The Devas are such sons of God who are empowered divine representatives.
Rajaguna is called passion. It is a state of confusion and desire. Rajaguna is a state in which one cannot tell what to do and what not to do. They are usually controlled by others, mostly because they don’t have a center of balance. They are always searching for but never finding what they want. Krishna says lobhah pravrttr arambhah karmanam asamah sprha rajasy etani jayante vivrddhe bharatarsabha “O best of the descendants of Bharata greed, hankering, over endeavor and uncontrollable desire is to be found in the activity of one who has been overcome with the Rajaguna” Bhagavad-Gita 14.12
Application
The being which embodies the force of Rajaguna is the Asuras. It can be easy to see the connections between demons and fanatics with a explanation. The Demons see the Godly force of the Devas and desire to sit on the throne of Indra, which is a most honorable position. They envy the force of goodness because they desire it, like anything. This desire to be good, causes them to think some how or other they can steal the throne of Indra by there own power. However they are always kicked off by God in one of his incarnations. They are like people who are not good in the first place and who try so hard but cannot be that way. I have seen that they end up either pretending to be pure, like the Salvationist, which is hypocrisy or torture themselves there whole life,. Like the bogus Vedantist which is suicidal.
Rajaguna religions tend to be over emotional, fanatical and closed minded. When you ask them practical questions and try and explain the simple truth about life then they will often quote there God, Guru, or Savior and say that only what he says is what they will ever believe and that faith is what will carry them to the other side. I cannot disagree with that statement because I have complete faith in what my Guru says also. At the same time it is a essential satvic law to be open minded and free of pre judgment. Madvacarya says na chanubhava virodhe agamasya pramanyamh Scripture has no validity if opposed to experience
The solution is balanced and simple, but that don’t mean it’s easy. Simple and balanced things are usually never easy for people who are out of balance. God has created a system of harmony and balance in nature. It is like a great machine which continues for eternity. People are part of this great machine. There are four occupational classes which have been created by the lord. Anyone who takes shelter in there duty need have no fear in the next life. Krishna confirms this in the Bhagavad-gita in several places saha-jam karma kaunteya sa-dosam api na tyajet sarvarambha hi dosena dhumenagnir ivavrtah “every endeavor is covered by some sort of fault, just as fire is covered by smoke. Therefore one should not give up his work which is born of his nature even if such work is full of fault.” Bhagavad-gita 18.48 and Sreyan sva-dharmo vigunah para-dharmat svanusthitat svabhava-niyatam karma kurvan napnoti kilbisam “it is better to engage in one’s own occupation even though one may preform it imperfectly, than to accept another’s occupation and perform it perfectly. Perscribed duties, according to one’s nature, are never affected by sinful reactions” Bhagavad-gita 18.47 . Those who are in the Rajaguna and who always desire something, they should simply take shelter in there occupational calling. Understanding that all people will fallow there nature and should therefore have no judgment for them self or others. This is the actual Vedic solution. They will make amazing amounts of actual spiritual progress by acting in this way. God has created the Varnasram system or occupational classes so that all the different people can live in harmony. As long as people do not fear themselves or God but accept the universe and continue acting by the dictates of there duty, by such faith in the all present and all powerful lord and by the grace of God they will be able to lose the selfishness and other qualities which cannot be simply removed by some magic.
Tamaguna is the force of decay and destruction, it is the force which breaks things down and kills them. In the mind it is fantasy and delusion and all ideas based on dreams. It is force by which spirits and Ghost operate. While a person under the influence of Rajaguna will take action, but that action isnt well thought out. The person in the mode of Ignorance cant get beyond the imagination stage. Krishna says Yaya svapanam bhayam sokam visadam madam eva ca na vimuncati durmedha dhrtih sa partha tamasi “That determination which cannot go beyond dreaming, fearfulness lamentation moroseness and illusion-such unintelligent determination is the mode of darkness.” Bhagavad-gita 18.35 They are ignorant of what to do.
Application
Tamaguna is intoxication or any form of escape. People will use intoxication to escape reality. Intoxication comes in various forms. Basically it’s a escape from the harsh reality of life. This is actually a natural response of the untrained lazy mind. The proper response to any situation is to maintain focus. The truth is that things are never as bad as our mind makes it. When we can’t figure out how to solve the problem we escape with various ways. Attachment to a situation gives us the wrong perspective. If you embrace the present situation and take every second as a opportunity to act, then your problems can be solved. But the laziness which is the product of Tamaguna will not even reveal that as a solution. We all know what goodness is and what the proper choice is. We just don’t always know it is a option. We ignore it. Why? People in Tamaguna are usually suicidal. The reasons for this are varied but based on attachment. For example my mother abandoned us and my brother committed suicide due to a chemical imbalance. This caused me to be mentally distraught for about 5 years. I didn’t want to exist so I went to a temple and escaped the world. It was a kind of intoxication, religious intoxication but something which caused me to ignore the present situation. Fortunately I have a pretty strong will force, so I didn’t want to stop existing for that long. The whole problem was that I was expecting to much out other people. I had the crazy notion that my worth was based on my family, and when they left it caused me to believe that I didn’t deserve to exist. Now this doesn’t make any sense but the lazy uncontrolled mind never makes sense. I am actually thankful the whole thing happened because I learned allot of things and got stronger. When we love people in the wrong way everyone gets hurt. Different qualities of people react in different ways. Some people who desire there own destruction, make there work so much a part of there life they aren’t people anymore they choose to escape and become machines for there work. Others escape through Video games or Drugs or fantasy. It’s all escape of some kind or another and its all the product of tamaguna resulting from attachment and self hatred. Wither it be the monk desiring self annihilation or the bum on the street drinking himself to death, its Tamaguna.
The solution for this problem is first healing the hurt which is causing the person to want there own death. I know one person who couldn’t find out what the problem was so what they did was go to hypnosis and there subconscious simply told the doctor the problem which was something simple, (which by the way they usually always are) and the person fixed it very easily. This should be fallowed by a focus on the present and practicing enough mental control to make the determination to solve problems. Detachment is the medicine which cures the hurt. When you realize that you don’t have to depend on others for your happiness then you can actually love them on a deeper and more real, and therefore pleasing level.
Sentimental religions which try and sell quick fix solutions, usually never reveal this kind of realization. It may be interesting to note that they some times even condemn such Ideas and claim that only faith or devotion can solve these problems. Faith and devotion to God is essential and sustaining to life. But we cannot make them a crutch which causes people to make no progress in life. Hearing this argument of mine my question is which would make God happy. As Krishna says anasritah karma-phalam karyam karma karoti yah sa sanyasi ca yogi ca na niragnir na cakriya “One who works as they are obliged, they are the true renunciant and the actual mystic: not he who lights no fire or has no duty.”
Markendaya says
He that has no feeling of kindness cannot be free from sin
even if his body is pure. That hard-heartedness of his is the enemy of his austerity. Austerity, again, is not mere abstinence from the pleasures of the world. He that is always pure and decked with virtue, he that practises kindness all his life, is a Muni even though he may lead a domestic life. Such a man is certainly purged of all his sins. Fasts and other penances cannot destroy sins, however much they may weaken and dry up the body that is simply made of flesh and blood. The man whose heart is without kindness, suffers torture only, by undergoing penances in ignorance of their meaning. He is never freed from sins by such acts.

Mahabharata Vana Parva Chapter 199
Conclution: How to trancend the three modes
In the middle planetary system these three energies are pulling the living being in various directions. This is not a conscious choice. People rarely think “I have the option to kill this person or not care, hmmmm let me think” They act on whatever happens to be influencing them the most. This influence is based on there surroundings and there previous actions. The surroundings are also based on what actions they have done. Some people live in peaceful satvic neighborhoods, for various reasons and other people live in cities full of crime and pollution. People end up where they are based actions decisions and desires. This is a basic principal of the middle planetary system, being, action creates result. The theory of reincarnation states that this continues on into the next existence. What we are doing now, we will do tomorrow. This also continues into liberation. We are acting now; we will act when we realize God. The difference being the amount of vision of everything we have. Krishna explains this quite clearly “One who is, however, taking pleasure in the self, who is illumined in the self, who rejoices in and satisfied with the self only, fully satiated-for him there is no duty. A self realized man has no purpose to fulfill in the discharge of his duty, however he has no reason not to perform such work. Nor has he any need to depend on any other living being. Therefore without being attached to the fruits of activity one should act as a matter of duty; for by acting without attachment one attains the supreme.” Bhagavad-Gita 3.17-19. This means that even if someone is liberated in there own body and completely self realized they are still acting. The Road and the destination is the same thing.
Lower planetary systems. The lower planetary system is the realm in which the demons live. They are Atheist and worship themself most of all. It is a dark realm which has no sunlight and no natural life, such as trees and plants. They make false plants out of metal and gems. To provide light they have massive serpents with self efulgent gems which give off red light. The demons live for hundreds of millions of years. They are tall handsome and extremely phisicaly strong. There skin looks like molten copper or bronze or sometimes white as clouds. There are several races of demons, Daityas who are the sons of Diti are the most powerful. Danavas are the sons of Danu who is another wife of Kasyapa and who gave birth do envyious sons. Vritra and Rahu were two Asuras who were massive fire breathing dragons, this however is not related to the many Nagas in this realm, Nagas are huge serpents who some times have many hoods. They breathe fire and have a direct connection with what the chinese call Dragons. They are all the children of Kadru, another wife of Kasyapa. The demons lost many of there citys and residences in a great war and as a result descided to move to the earth and take human bodys. The Devas cannot directly come to the earth and kill people so they took human bodys as well and had a great war, this was the Mahabharata war. Some people say that to this very day many of the demons are still secretly trying to rule the world, through secret oganisations. I don’t know.
Whenever Demons go to war, they are usualy joined by Racksasas. Racksasas are horable creatures which have a cultural connection with ogres or giants. They are massive ugly demonic spirits who have black magic powers and are man-eaters. They live on a planet called Bhutaloka. Racksasas generaly are about twice as tall as a man with black flesh and rust colored fur. They have huge cousins called Yaksas who look simular but have redish fleash and small horns and long black hair. There other cousins are called Kimpurusas and Kinnaras. However they are good. Kimpuruasas are what we call Sphinxs and Kinnaras are what we call Centaurs. Kinnaras are known for there musical ability and generaly live in the upper planetary system allong with Kimpurusas.
Bellow the realm of demons is the kingdom of Yama or the king of the dead. When someone dies who has lead a especialy bad life, they are dragged before Yama to be judged. There are various planets were punishments are dealt out. When the sentence is complete the soul is then allowed to return to the earth. “Hell” is not eternal but like a prison where a soul pays there debt to society and then gets to return, with some bad karma as probation.
The universe is a divine balance which has been created by God. With good evil and everything imbetween. It is all a giant school so that we mature and grow and can reach our own greatest potential.
It says in the Rig veda
yasman na rte vijayante janaso

“Without his mercy who can have victory? When in the midst of battle we call on you for help. You are the master of this universe for you can do what is impossible. You are Indra”
He brings the rain and victory and was praised by all the kings of the earth and worshiped throughout the world. he has been called Zeus, Jupiter and Thor just to name a few.
His kingdom is Swarga and within that realm is his own planet called Indraloka or the world of Indra. Within that effulgent planet is the golden city of Amravati which is his capital.

Beasts and Otherworldly beings
Beasts and Otherworldly beings
Yaksha
Yakshas(pl Yaksas) A race of otherworldy beings who according to most sources inhabit the upper Himalayan regions. They have been known to travel in other locations as well and I feel that they are connected to both Jin as in Islam and various fairy creatures mentioned in European mythology. They are cousins to Racksasas(see Bellow)and share some physical characteristics with them
Yakshas are the main servants of Kubera the wealth God. They are extremely tall being on the average twice the height of a man. Reddish in color and have long arms and short legs. They have pointed ears which are shaped like arrow heads. Small stumps or horns which come out of the top of their heads are also seen in Artwork but not mentioned in any shastra I know of. They have thick bushy long black hair on their heads.
They are not furry like Racksasas.
They have many mystic powers and they are described as being able to fly in the air. As servants of Kubera they are known to grant wishes of mortals who do them favors or who they desire to help. When Dhruva fought against them they created many optical illusions by their mystic powers which are similar to the ones which are used by Racksasas.
The Yaksa race usually takes the back drop as far as epic narratives only being mentioned with any regularity in lists of beings in attentence at famous events.
There are only 3 incidents which involve Yaksas that are of major importance, 2 of them being in Mahabharata and 1 from Bhagavat Purana.
In Mahabharata there is Maniman the Yaksha general who was the top commander of Kubera. The pandavas are in exhile and Bhima climbs a mountain top in order to see the palace of Kubera. When he arrives he announces his presence by blowing on a conch shell. The Yaksha commander Maniman leads a large army of Yakshas out of the gate. Bhima slays all the Yakshas including Maniman with his club. Kubera Exits the palace angry but then remembers how Maniman had offended the sage Agastya who cursed him and his army to be slain. Kubera bows to Bhima and thanks him for ridding him of that Karma. I will mention that the Tatvavadis say Shankaracarya was none other than the Yaksha general Maniman and that Madhvacarya their preceptor was none other than Bhimsena and he defeated him once again but this time with philosophy.
The next incident which involves Yaksas is the Story of Shikundi. Their was a king of Kashi who had 3 Daughters Amba Ambika and Ambalika. As warrior custom they held a Swayambara ceremony in which the women get to choose who they want to marry and if anyone objects they fight over the woman. It’s a way for only the strongest and bravest to get married and therefore get the right to produce children.
Bhisma a powerful warrior had a younger brother Vichitraveria who was destined to be king of the world and who he wanted to marry the 3 princess. Bhisma arrived and stole the 3 girls defeating all the warriors including Shalva who Amba wanted to marry. Amba told Bhisma who she realy loved and so he let her return but Shalva would have nothing to do with her.
Amba wanted revenge and after a few failed attempts she did Tapasya (severe austerity) in order to please Lord Shiva. When Shiva was pleased he granted her the boon by saying in her next birth she would be the cause of the death of Bhisma. At this time she entered the fire so she could take her next birth.
At the same time Drupada the king of Panchala wanted a son so he did severe austerity to lord Shiva. Lord Shiva appeared before him and said that soon he would have a daughter who would become a brave and powerful son. Drupada had a daughter named her Shikundi and raised her as a son. She kept her hair short and looked and acted just like a man. She would dress in armor and train in weapons. Because Shiva had said Shikundi would become a man Drupada agreed to marry her to the daughter of another king. The king hearing of it was so excited because of the power and affluence of Drupada he sent his daughter there immediately.
The daughter reported to her father that the supposed son of Drupada was in fact a girl. The king sent an army on the way to fight Drupada. Shikandi felt ashamed and ran to a cave and wanted to commit suicide however a Yaksha entered the cave and saw the crying Shikandi. When he discovered the situation he agreed to change genders with Shikandi and so he became a woman and she became a man. (he wanted to know what sex was like as a woman)
The Next Incident involves Dhruva maharaj who was a powerful king and ruler of the earth. His younger brother was killed by some Yakshas. So Dhruva attacked them and killed several thousand before they surrendered
The Yaksha Race have never in known memory had the ambition to rule the world and have never amassed any army to fight against the gods. It has never been seen that they have joined in any Asura campaign nor do they fight for the Gods. They serve kubera and act as his guards but do not get involved in any battles between the gods and demons
Yakshas get along good with Racksasas Ghandarvas and Nagas and have neutral reactions towards humans some times being friendly and some times being hostile depending on the situation. They are respectful towards Devas
Racksasha
The word Racksasa(s)((plural)) has its root in the word Racksha which means protect. Many times the word Racksasa is translated to mean no quarter. In battle people used to beg for there life and it is said that Racksasas never give quarter to anyone even if they beg for their life. This is where it is said the name comes from.
Racksasas are evil spirits who are quite dirty nasty and selfish. They are also very large and strong and have a particular skill with black arts. I feel they have a cultural connection to Ogres or any other large man eating monster in western and Chinese Mythology, perhaps a slight cultural tie to Vampires as well. Racksasas favorite food is human flesh and blood.
They used to have a kingdom on a island in the southern sea called Lanka. They used to be more civilized also, more refined one can say, but there leader Ravana got too strong and too ruthless and he offended the Gods. Vishnu in the form of Sri Ramachandra defeated them and the Racksasa kingdom was crushed. Since then they have kind of become savage living in forests and the dark places of the universe. A few who have some brains have managed to try and take control over planets by subversive means and infiltrate positions of authority. As a race they have the keenest interest on dark rituals which involve the drinking of blood and eating of human flesh.
They are some what neutral in the battle between the Gods and the demons. This neutrality is based on there own selfishness, since they think they are the most important things in the universe they don’t meddle in the affairs of either side, unless they are extremely ambitious like Ravana.
I was one time in a negative mind space because of a love situation and one Racksasa chieftain managed to teleport me to his court while I was in deep meditation. It was a dark cave with a raging fire in the middle. There was some sort of orgy or party going on with many of the participants playing on drums and long horns which almost reached there toes. The king was large covered in gold with pitch black skin and fire red hair. His ears were shaped like knife blades and curved almost to his eyebrows and his toothy grin went from ear to ear. He offered me quite a bit of services, spying, diseases, torture, ex. (Racksasas are expert in feeding on base emotions and trying to gain a profit from it) in exchange for me doing some favors in the future, which were to be specified later. I gave the whole mater about 3 seconds of thought and left.
The Historys are full of Racksasas and they often times play the key role in many narratives
Ravana, Kumbakarna , Indrajita, Bakasura, Hidimva, Hidimvi and Ghatotkacha are amongst some of the most famous of them.
We find in the Treta yuga the Racksasas were of a more civilized mentality and lived and owned great citys which were full of technological wonders and which rivaled swarga in majesty. After the death of Ravana and the apparent loss of there universal kingdom they lost there civilized mentality and in later works we see them roaming the forest hunting down humans and doing various other barbaric things. They seem to have degenerated into a tribal culture. In Mahabharata war we find Racksasa generals like Ghatotkacha and Alumvusha who were rivals and brought there personal armys. This seems to be the last great mustering of the Racksasas and was more of a civil war between clans than a unified dynasty.
Racksasas are experts in black magic and tantra and can conjure very powerful illusions. On average they are at least twice the height of a human and have black skin with thick rust colored fur.
Racksasas grow to full maturity within a few days from birth. The reason for this is that in ancient days the Racksasa women would often times cast their children aside because of their lusty nature and a lack of wanting to take care of them. So Uma granted a benediction that the Racksasa race would grow to full maturity in a short amount of time.
They get along with Yakshas are Neutral towards Ghandarvas and Nagas Have almost no respect for humans considering them as food and are envious of Devas
Ghandarva
Ghandarvas are a race of celestial beings who are expert singers and musicians. They have their own planet called Ghandarvaloka which can be called their homeworld.
They are also famous for flying horses which are often times employed by the gods and demons. These have a cultural connection to Pegasus of Greek mythology however even though they can fly they are not mentioned to have wings. I had a glimpse of them once but it is a long story which can be seen in the appendix
The Ghandarvas are seen in courts of any interplanetary leader such both gods and demons and are also very fond of the court of Kubera and of the Himalayan mountains.
There are also deva Ghandarvas who live primarily in the kingdom of Indra and serve him. There are 7 Ghandarva kings who have thousands of servants. Along with singing they are known to fight and do the orders of the gods.
It however has never been seen that Ghandarvas will fight for the Asuras and I think that they only sing for them on contract.
Ghandarva from Japan where Indra was worshiped by his common name Shakra
Some Ghandarvas have wings and some don’t. but all of them fly or use flying horses to get places. They love speed and the air most of all
Ghandarvas are masters of mystic powers and also have a lot of Deva weapons and have developed 3 astras of there own. Which I shall now describe; One of them is a missile which takes the mystic power of the Ghandarva and places it in the form of a glowing arrow which can be shot by the Ghandharva. They favor the bow for battle and use it while flying in the sky which can have some deadly effect.
The Ghandarvas occur a lot in Shastra and are always singing or praising some event. I can be deduced that even when they are not used to fight Ghandarvas are taken to battles by the gods so that they can make songs or ballads about the heroic deeds of the combatants
Ghandarvas are very handsome and on average slightly taller than humans being 7-9 feet tall perhaps (counting people as 6 feet average) Their eyes glow they have very long arms and typically have long flowing hair. They like to wear flower garlands and flowers in their hair which is typically braided. They love jewelry also. They are not particulary beefy as far as muscles go but are very toned and strong in that sense.
Ghandarvas are friends with Yakshas and Neutral towards Nagas and Rackshasas they have a bit of a arrogant attitude with Humans and will usually try and prove they are more powerful in some way or the other, they are the most prone to getting cursed by Risis for this reason. They have a great deal of respect for Devas.
Indraduta
This is a name which I came up for a race of being which I feel needs a mention, they don’t have any name given in shastra but are mentioned all the time. It’s the army of Indra
Indraduta’s are the souls of great warriors who fought in battle and did many religious ceremonys. When they die if Indra thinks that they are qualified he places them in his personal army and they fight in his wars. They are given many celestial abilitys and weapons.
Nagas
Nagas (Naga)( singular) are celestial serpents who live in the lower worlds, they have appear in many storys of Shastra and take many different roles.
It is general knowledge that they live in the lower realms and are associated with Assuras. It has been described that on their main planet there are many powerful cheiftans who have thousands of hoods and at the top of these hoods are celestial gems and that those gems give off radiance and the whole planet serves as a source of light for the lower realms instead of the sunlight which is restricted.
Vasuki is counted as the king of the Nagas. His older brother Sesha was the king however he renounced that kingship and devoted himself to asceticism and became a devotee of Vishnu and serves as his bed.
Mahabharata mentions how they would have all been killed in a great snake sacrifice of Janemejaya however they were saved when a Brahmin Ashtika who was married to the sister of Vasuki spoke on there behalf and saved their lives
The Nagas seem to make a lot of trouble due to jealousy and are always trying to get more than there means. In one story their mother Kadru enslaves her own sister Vinata with the aid of tha nagas and they force Garuda to take them everywhere. Being tired of the menial service Garuda asks if there is one special task which will satisfy them and he can be set free. The nagas then reveal there mind and say that the gods are reveared for there immortality and how they posses nectar and the serpents tell Garuda that if he can steal the nectar of immortality from the gods then they can be on an equal level. In another story they steal the earings from a bhramin.
It is said that the reason that snakes bite people is because of envy.
The Nagas have the unique ability to have 3 forms. In one form they have a serpent body which according to age and status has a number of heads. For example Iravana the son of Arjuna by a Naga queen who was a sister of vasuki had 10 heads in his serpent form. Ancient naga kings are reported to have thousands of heads. Nagas can spit venom and also breath fire.
In the second form they resemble a mix between a human and a serpent. The top half looks like a human and the lower half looks like a serpent. The wives of the Kaliya serpent seem to have taken on this aspect when they prayed to Krsna.
The third form fully resembles a human being although somewhat celestial and otherworldly looking. Iravan fought for most of the battle looking this way but would switch between all 3 of them
The Nagas are very cold blooded and will probably kill anyone to get exactly what they want. They make no alliances with any race and never in history have formed any army which they used to invade or take over any other race or being. Iravan the son of Arjuna is the only Naga in any shastra I have seen with a army and he was half human. He formed a division of Naga cavalry who had horses which would change colors and which could also fly for short spurts of time. As far as battle strength the nagas seem to be superhuman. Iravan had 12 javelins sticking in him and he pulled them out and threw them at his opponents beheading them. The only way he could be killed was by a racksasa king named Alumvusha. They more often tend to use political maneuvers and subtlety to take over there opponents. Nagas are as apt to kill and subdue another naga what to speak of another race of beings and have no particular favor or dislike with any race. They in essence envy anyone stronger no matter what race they belong too.
Other races
Of the less spoken of and less known races some form of description should be given.
Kinnaras
are celestials who sing similar to Ghandarvas however they resemble Centars of the Greek origin, in as much as they are said to have a horse portion on the lower half and a human on the upper half. In Thailand and South East Asia it said that it is a bird. They are noted for living within the Asram of Kashyapa muni and the palace of Indra in Swarga. Whenever there is some major event they always show up also. Like the swayambara of Drupadi and the Rajasurya Yajna. There numbers are not known but they seem to be a very rare breed of being and are not mentioned in any great extent. There father is a famous Bhrahma Rishi and they share there heritage with Yakshas and Rackshashas
Kimpurushas
Kimpurushas like Kinnaras are not mentioned too often and when they are mentioned it is attendance at some widely attended celestial event. It is said that they sing for the gods. They resemble a sphinx. They have the lower portion of a lion and upper of a man. One important mention made in Mahabharata was that Rukmi the brother of the famous Rukmini took the king of the Kimpurushas as his Guru in arms. This is a rare event and little light is shown aside for the fact that Kimpusushas must have been somewhat accomplished at arms if a king would seek one of them as a martial guru. It is also said that Hanuman lives with the Kimpurushas
Siddhas
Siddhas are actually not so much a race of being but a class of being. Siddhaloka is a planet which is full of beings who are masters of mystic powers. It is described that many yogis and powerful ascetics live in that domain. Anyone performing the proper type austeriy and vow and gaining a mastery of mystic arts can live in that place. There is no talk of what exactly the race is which lives there but I would have to assume it is full of human risis who have attained some merit after life times of severe penance
Charanas
are beings who live in the celestial worlds and which are professional riciters of prayers to the gods and other beings. They often will appear and shower flowers and sing hymns of praise
Vasus
are actually another name for the Gods. Anil is a name for Vayudeva. All the Vasus are actually such noteable personalitys as Indra Vayu and Agni just to name a few
Rudras
are all manifestations of Shiva there are 11 in total and Shiva himself is considered the topmost of them
Yaksha
